Patents, Copyrights and Trademarks Patents are a primary intellectual property right for entrepreneurs to flourish. Patents, Copyrights and Trademarks What’s the difference?

Copyrights protect the expression of an idea, such as a book or a movie or jewelry or the way you write your computer program. Copyrights do not protect the idea itself.

A trademark is an indicator of the source or origin of the goods or services or their quality.

A patent protects the ideas.
