1.1 Background of research  Our group choose to do the research about the problem faced by UMP students, which is unstable internet connection in UMP. It is quite a norm to hear about the problem of internet connection in University Malaysia Pahang’s (UMP) hostel.

1.2 Objectives of research As a guideline for our research, we have to decide some objectives to follow while doing the research. The objectives as follows: -To investigate the effect of unstable internet to student on their academic performance. -To investigate the importance of internet to students and their academic performance.

1.3 Research Questions Apart from that, we decided some questions for our research as follows: -Does the internet connection problem have an effect on student academic performance? -Does the internet connection problem affect students on their communication with classmates and lecturers? -Does the internet connection problem affect the mood of student to study?

1.4Definition of Terms  For the purpose to give more understanding to readers about the research we done, the following is a brief explanation about the term and research title:  Internet connection problem or unstable internet connection means some student in UMP failed to connect with internet service in their hostel. Besides that, although sometimes student can connect to internet but the internet signal is weak, this is what we mean by unstable internet connection. Furthermore, wireless service does not provided in some student residential area.

Chapter 2  Literature review

 In chapter 2, our group have divide this chapter in two main parts:  Importance of Internet for student  The relationship between low connection and the student performance

Chapter 3 Methodology

Chapter 5 Conclusion -Most of the students feel that internet problem will affect their academic performances. -Most of the students communicate with lectures and class mate by using internet. -Most of the students feel dissatisfied, annoying and hopeless when they are facing internet problem.

Recommendation -Student may go to library to borrow the references book and go to library’s 24 hour room to get internet services. -Student can suggest to ICT department for upgrade internet connection speed. -Student also can go to buy a private modem.
