Soon after the invasion and utter defeat of Poland France and Britain declared war on Germany. America remained neutral and promised to do so.

On December 7, 1941 The Japanese Imperial Navy bombed the American military base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The next day President Roosevelt declared war on Japan, Germany then declared war on America as part of its pact with Japan.

On June 6, 1944 The Allies; Britain, America, and France, invaded France and broke through Hitler's Atlantic wall. The location of the invasion was Normandy, France. Operation Overlord is also known as D-Day.

As a final offensive against the Allies, Hitler uses all of his forces to force a bulge in the Allied line. This final push was known as the Battle of the Bulge. It occurred in the Ardennes forest which harbored difficult terrain. Casualties were high for both sides and the Allies finally broke through the Axis line. It was only a matter of time before Germany would fall to the Allies. Fall of Germany
