2 Project Fact Sheet The Jerba CDM Forum is organized as part of the activities of CD4CDM project. The Jerba CDM Forum is organized as part of the activities of CD4CDM project.  CD4CDM a U$10 million project funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  Project being implemented in 12 developing countries by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) through its UNEP RISØ Centre (URC) in Denmark.  Completed Phase I of the Project:  Objectives: Preparation of national work plans, and organization of a CDM national workshop.  Currently implementing Phase II: June December 2005.

5 Implementation Strategy  URC together with Regional Centres and in-country project teams jointly implement project activities.  Conducted training needs assessment for project countries:  Identified target groups for capacity building based on job descriptions, institutional mandates, and expected role in the CDM project cycle.  DNA staff, investment authority, rural electrification, renewable energy agency, private sector companies, & financial sector.

6 Continue: Project Strategy  Organize workshops for specific CDM stakeholders (local consultants, bankers, line-ministries, investment authority, lawyers):  Hands-on, participatory approach (case studies, small working groups with sectoral focus).  Conduct studies for policy advise:  Legal and Regulatory Issues in CDM (Egypt, Morocco):  Identify local regulations may hinder CDM and propose solutions.  Regulatory interventions to create incentives for CDM sector.

7  “Learning By Doing” capacity building approach:  All PDDs produced by the project prepared by national experts.  Inter-regional sharing of information, experiences, and knowledge among national CDM teams in the 12 countries.
