Integrating the environment and sustainability in energy policies Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova

The project aims: To provide long term sustainability assessment of national energy strategies developed, primarily from environmental point of view; To provide options on improving policies and national energy planning system for a design of sustainable oriented energy strategies and plans To raise awareness and to develop capacity of national specialists to integrate environmental and sustainability considerations in energy-related strategic initiatives

EEA aims: To use the project activities to provide building blocks to SOER 2010 Part A and to Astana process

Activities (2009) 1.To give an understanding of the present situation and energy strategies development –Existing situation, trends –Assessment of existing strategies –Information base built on SEIS principles 2.The integration of the environment into the energy strategies. –Use of scenarios building participatory technique for testing of the existing energy strategies in the environment sustainable context –Link to global and European scenarios 3.Dissemination activities and capacity building
