(..knowledge of National standard descriptors)?? supervising a teacher seeking accreditation? (….knowledge of NSW and National standards)??? Teaching Certificate, positions etc NSW Institute of Teachers = accreditation body ……. seeking and maintaining accreditation The DEC usually pass on information to the Institute eg professional learning details BUT BUT ……….. ….. it is the teacher who must keep both parties informed of any changes re personal details – don’t assume it is automatically done! eg…inform the Institute of the school where you are working….this will allow your Principal to support and advise you regarding Institute matters

Transition to National Standards Before October 2012 – teachers who began teaching before this date and wish to use NSW standards will be expected to complete their accreditation process by the end of From October 2012 – all new teachers will be required to use the National Standards for Teachers From October 2012 – your accounts are set to the National Standards even though you are working on the NSW standards 2013 and sets of standards will co-exist End 2014 – NSW Standards will be turned off…..the NSW Institute will become the administrative body for AITSL in NSW AiTSL - Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership

Higher Levels of Accreditation The certification of teachers at the higher levels has been written for: Professional AccomplishmentHighly Accomplished Professional LeadershipLead Encouragement and support is given to those teachers who wish to embark on the next level/s. The NSW Institute will continue with its current higher level accreditation processes through 2013 merging to National through 2014.
