Homophones A Homophone is a word that sounds like another word but is spelled differently. Both words also have two different meanings. For Example the words, two, to, too. We will go over a few different homophones on the next few slides. Next 

What is the difference? To: A preposition,  Towards. Too: Adverb,  Also. Two: Number,  Their: Possessive adjective,  belonging to them. There: Adverb,  at or in that place Affect: Verb,  To change or influence someone or something. Effect: Noun,  The result of a change or influence. NEXT 

What is the difference? Buy: Verb,  to purchase. By: Preposition,  used to express the agent in a passive sentence. Bye: Noun,  farewell Principal: Noun,  head of the school. Principle: Noun,  basic truth or law. NEXT 
