2005 ASHRAE 62 – 1989 BTL Building Tightness Limit Based on LBL Correction factor Gives agencies a minimum target CFM 50 Using the Zip Test Pro TI-86

BTLa Building Tightness limits and ventilation requirements based on ASHRA 62,119 & 136 Recommends Mechanical Continuous Ventilation

New fan standards Rated for Continuous use Sone level 1.0 or less certified by the home ventilation institute. Energy efficient 19 watt or less

Problem Contactors had a hard time finding the fans. Clients complained of fans running continuously. Agencies finding electricians to install fans.

Solutions Changed standards to allow intermittent fans instead of continuous. If BTLa called to add 50cfm fan. House had a existing fan in the bathroom, no other fan was needed.

Installation rate and Cost 30% of homes receive a new fan Cost ranges from $ to $ per fan installed.

ASHRARE Measure air flow on all existing fans. Bathrooms must have 50cfm fans. Kitchens must have 100cfm fans. Or use a alternative compliance for existing homes. ( Over size your continuous fans to account for bathrooms and kitchens)

ASHRARE Run time instead of continuous. All fans must provide required flow at.25 w. g. Installation rate will increase to 90% of the home receiving fans. Depressurization tightness limits. (DTL)

OSHA Training OSHA Construction Industry regulations Local agency providing training. Local agency adjust training to WX Local Community Colleges provide training. We are having problems with OSHA rules contridicting Lead safe Practices such as plastic outside on the ground when raining or snowing. It gets slick & unsafe.
