Introduction Formation of the APHEO Working Group Legal sub-group tasks/issues What we did: –Develop better understanding of legal context –Develop ideas for better functioning within current legal context

Outline of legislative context Consultation with PHU lawyers and information session NB: Consultations did not constitute “legal advice” See handouts provided (not to be shared electronically) Our understanding of legal context: –HICs –Prescribed entities –Etc…

Possible options for going further… Pursue options available for data sharing e.g. through PHPDB Develop a standardized research protocol that can be “pre-approved” e.g. get REB approval one time Use GIS and other web-based tools for access, such as in CCO’s current funding proposal. Also, Ministries (MOHLTC & MHP) are exploring the options available
