Special Education Students In 2007, he taught students with learning disabilities and behavioral challenges – Majority were African American and Latino – Many from single-parent or parentless homes – Attention deficit disorder – Mild cerebral palsy – Math skills at 3 rd grade level

Results Final exam in December 2007 Algebra scores – His Special Ed class: 57% – District-wide average: 43%

Achievement Gaps Closed Racial – African American and Latino students scored above California's Caucasian students Income – His low-income students scored above California Economically Advantaged students
