Life’s Choices & Christian Values Matthew 6:24 Sermon by Chris Osborne

Life’s Choices and Christian Values We must be wise in our choices and abide by the teachings of Jesus (Matt. 7:24-27) The way of truth cannot be compromised for any reason (2 Tim. 3:10-17) Our choices reveal our loyalty (Matt. 6:24) The values that we learn in the Bible should be applied to every aspect of our life so that we can become better servants of God

Choosing Our Friends Do not desire to be in the presence, or walk in the ways of evil (Prov. 24:1-2; Prov. 4:14-19) Desire to walk with the wise (Prov. 13:20) –Example: Noah (Gen. 6:9,11) Make friends of those who fear God and keep His precepts (Psa. 119:63) Friends have a great influence on our lives, whether for good or for evil

Choosing a Husband/Wife Primary goal that should be shared is the desire to serve the Lord (Josh. 24:15) Need to understand and accept what God says in regards to marriage (Eph. 5:22-28; 1 Pet. 3:1-7) A wrong choice could cause your heart to be turned away (1 Kings 11:1-4) The selection of a life long partner should be made with great caution, knowing that your soul could be at stake

Choosing a Job The work of the Lord is most important, it should be our main focus in life (1 Cor. 15:58; Matt. 9:37-38) It is necessary for us to work (2 Thess. 3:7- 10) Should not seek a job that takes you away from services and family (Heb. 10:25) Our main priority is to serve God, not gain earthly wealth and fame

Conclusion Our choices in life must be based upon our desire to serve God. Do your everyday choices indicate this desire? Does every aspect of your life show that you want to do what is right and that you want others to do the same?
