Kinetic Energy

Thermal Energy- Heat is given off when an object’s thermal energy is transferred. Thermal energy from a counter is transferred from the counter to the dish, from the dish to the ice cream. Energy is transferred from particle (atom and molecule) to particle in counter, dish and ice cream. Heat Energy is transferred to the ice cream and it melts. What does ENERGY TRANSFER mean?

Energy Transfer is when energy moves from one place to another.

Three Ways Heat Energy is transferred: Conduction- heat transfer of energy by direct contact between particles( solids) Convection-heat transfer of energy through liquids and gases by moving particles(warm particles rise, cool particles fall---mixing) Radiation- heat transfer of energy by waves
