The Talking Cloth Vocabulary

A person who gathers things or has a collection. Mr. Patterson is a collector of stamps. Discuss with a friend some things you collect.

A hot drink made from coffee, cocoa, and milk. My teacher drinks mocha in the morning.

A collection is a group of objects with something in common, often gathered and displayed. At the beach I found many shells to add to my collection.

A showy way of doing something. I unfolded my beach towel with a flourish. Turn your head with a flourish.

Members of a royal family. The royalty of England went to the ball.

A special cloth with symbols that stand for different feelings, events, or beliefs. The royal family wore adinkra robes to celebrate the wedding.

embroidered A decoration that is sewed onto cloth with a needle and thread. My mom embroidered my initials on my sweatshirt. Look around the room, does anyone have embroidery on their clothing?

pinstripe A cloth fabric that has narrow stripes. The lawyer wore a pinstripe suit to court.
