COE Outstanding Faculty Application and Award Process Call for Applications Submission Period Application Review ReviewDecision Department Chairs encourage faculty to consider submitting applications for the awards. The submission process is discussed at the department level. Individuals submit applications by deadline. The Annual Outstanding Faculty Award recognizes one faculty member in each of the following retention, promotion, and tenure areas: Teaching Professional Growth Service A call for written applications is sent by from the Dean’s Office to all faculty at the start of each academic year. The Dean’s assistant reviews all incoming applications for adherence to application requirements. Applications not adhering to application guidelines will not be considered. Each department elects one representative to serve on the Selection Committee with Cabinet members. The Selection Committee reviews and confirms all applications that do not adhere to the application guidelines. The selection process consists of individual paper review and ballot voting. Formal advocacy statements are not considered. Decisions include: 1.Guideline adherence 2.Merit in area of focus 3.Prior awards received. The Dean sends written notification of the Selection Committee’s decisions to all applicants. Those not adhering to application guidelines will also receive written notice that their application was unable to be reviewed. The Dean’s Office sends an announcement of the decisions to the entire College.

College of Education Call for Outstanding Faculty Award Applications The Annual Outstanding Faculty Award recognizes one faculty member in the COE in each of the following areas: Teaching Professional Growth Service Only self-nominations will be accepted. To apply, submit the following: Your annual NCATE Vita (no more than 5 pages) formatted per COE template. Only activities completed from September 1 st, 2006 through August 31 st, 2007 should be included. Highlight all text which relates to the area being reviewed for the award. Only highlighted text will be reviewed. A cover letter (maximum 2 pages) that includes the following: A clear identification of the area(s) for which you are applying A narrative that explains why you feel that your work in the past year warrants consideration for the outstanding faculty award in the chosen area. ONLY DOCUMENTS USING 1” MARGINS AND A FONT OF 12 WILL BE REVIEWED. A Selection Committee will review all applications that meet the submission requirements and are submitted by the deadline. Applicants need to give consideration to the following aspects of the category to which they are applying: Teaching—Command of subject matter, organization of instructional materials, effectiveness of instruction, & academic assessment of students. Professional Growth—Significance of the accomplishments and the quality and form in which they were presented. Service—University, college, department, program, and community service efforts which relate to the mission of the university and/or college. DEADLINE: October 31, 2007 Submit cover letter and highlighted NCATE Vita to Dean’s Office. No additional materials accepted.
