A basic guide for students... Resume and Cover Letter Creation

Resume Included in the resume: Heading : Includes name, contact information This should stand out! It should be consistent with your cover letter and references

Resume Objective: One sentence explaining the type of job you are seeking. Specific to where you are applying.

Bad examples: To acquire a creative development position within the entertainment industry that would utilize my vast (2 years) technical experience. To find a gig. My goal is to be a meteorologist. But since I have no training in meteorology, I suppose I should try stock brokerage. I demand a salary commiserate with my extensive experience.

Resume Education : List your current high school and expected graduation date. You may include classes that might add to your employability or your average.

While I've never quite gotten a degree, I am quite close to several. Completed 11 years of high school. College: August 1880-May Finished eighth in my high school graduating class of ten. Suspected to graduate early next year. No education or experience.

Resume Experience : include any past work experience you might have. Should include a job title, dates, a brief description of the job, and name of an employer.

Maintained files and reports, did data processing, cashed employees' paychecks. Responsibilities included checking customers out. Creator / Writer: ihatemylife.us, Los Angeles, CA Overlooked all areas to ensure an overwhelming success. While I am open to the initial nature of an assignment, I am decidedly disposed that it be so oriented as to at least partially incorporate the experience enjoyed heretofore and that it be configured so as to ultimately lead to the application of more rarefied facets of financial management as the major sphere of responsibility.

Resume Activities : Employers like to see people who are involved! List any community services, activities, teams, or clubs your may have participates in.

Resume Summary of Skills : You may want to include a summary of skills that have not been addressed elsewhere Example: type 60 words a minute, fluent in French

Resume Resume DO’s DO stick to a basic clear format DO us ACTION based words to describe your skills and what you did on the job. DO proofread to be sure your resume is free of spelling and grammar errors DO include ‘references available upon request’
