White Rose Primary Sports Council

Why have a Sports Council?  Miss Jones decided on a sports council for a number of reasons: 1.It was very effective in our link comprehensive school. 2.She felt the school needed to celebrate it’s sporting achievements. 3.She wanted to encourage more children to participate in sports clubs whether it was in after school clubs or in community clubs. 4.Also she wanted to try and get more volunteers to help with after school clubs.

How the Sports Council was set up.  Classes 7,8,9,10,11 and 12 nominated 4 pupils from their class. They nominated 2 boys and 2 girls.  The four candidates from each class were then interviewed by 4 school council members.  The school council were briefed about the interviews and they discussed what they thought an ideal candidate for the sports council would be.  Each school council member asked them a question related to sport. They then discussed who they thought would be suitable candidates for each class.

Cont-d  The interviews were videoed.  School council then decided on who they thought would be best for a chair person, vice chair person and a secretary.  School council announced the successful candidates.
