Encantado: Pink Dolphin of the Amazon by Sy Montgomery

Is the following sentence from the selection an opinion? The wet season is the best time of year to explore the Amazon. Yes According to the selection, why do dolphins send out sound beams from their forehead? To help them identify the things around them.

According to the selection, how are dolphins and submarines alike? They use sonar in the water. Which detail best supports the generalization that ocean dolphins would not be able to survive in the Amazon River? Their bodies do not bend well so they would not be able to get around the branches.

Why is one part of the selection called “Nightmare Dream World”? The rain forest was both dangerous and amazing What is a main idea of the second part of “Nightmare Dream World”? Black tangarana ants will protect the tree that is their home.

What generalization can be made from the information in the selection? There are many dangers in the Amazon. Pink dolphins are probably difficult to study because they are hard to.. See because they swim in dark, leaf stained water.

Is the following a fact? “Some of the trees have spines growing out of their trunks.” Yes. The selection said that pink dolphins can “whirl around like a Ferris wheel.” What does this mean? They can spin in a circle.

How are pink dolphins and ocean dolphins alike? Pink dolphins and ocean dolphins are alike in that they both use echolocation, or sonar, to find things in water.

According to the selection, how are pink dolphins and people alike? Pink dolphins and people are alike in that dolphins look as different from one another as people do.

In this selection, why did the author speak directly to the reader? The author spoke directly to the reader because the author wants to help the reader imagine traveling in the Amazon.
