Presentation transcript:

Sea Lamprey Petromyzon marinus

Sea Lamprey Class Agnatha (Greek for no jaws) Feeding method Mostly in larval stage, they filter feed in the mud. But at adult form, it will attach itself to other fish and suck their blood. Lifespan Up to about 25 years Reproduction At about 20 years of age, the sea lamprey will return to the river and lay it’s young and then finally die.

Sawfish Anoxypristis cuspidata

Saw Fish Class Chondricthyes (bone-less fish) Saw fish have ray-like features such as mouth and gills on belly, but they look most like a shark. The saw-like nose of the fish allows the fish to sense buried prey in the ground and to dig up the prey. Lack a swim bladder-use an oil filled liver to control lift in the water Live in shallow, muddy, tropical waters Can live in both salt and fresh water

Walleye Slander vitreus

Walleye Class Ostreicthyes (bony fish) Walleye’s have a reflective eye, which helps give them their name The light the eye does absorb is called tapetum lecidum. Since this light is easy to absorb for walleyes, they can see very well in the dark and makes them naturally nocturnal. Their special eyes are a lot like cat’s eyes. Walleyes grow to be as long as 75 cm and weigh up to 7 kg.

Oriental Fire-Bellied Toad Bombina orientalis

Oriental Fire-Bellied Toad Class Amphibia (lives in both water and land) The oriental fire toad is one of the most common species of the genus Bombina, and is very far from being extinct. They naturally live in Korea, China, and neighboring parts of Russia. These toads are very common as pets and are easy to take care of. Diet: Crickets, other bugs Toads get fertilized internally, but lay eggs.

Galapagos Giant Tortoise Geochelone nigra

Galapagos Giant Tortoise Class Reptilia (reptiles, land, cold blooded) Largest tortoise living on the planet walking speed of 0.3kmph!!!! Galapagos turtles use galapagos finches to pick off the ticks and other parasites that may be in it’s skin, providing protection for the turtle and food for the finch.

Toucan Ramphastos toco

Toucan Has a bill that can reach up to 20 cm. The toco toucan is the largest toucan of it’s kind, ranging from grams The toco toucan, unlike it’s relatives, actually prefers open areas such as savannas or open woodlands. Toucan uses large beak to pluck leaves from trees and to also feed in insects

Bottlenose Dolphin Tursiops truncatus

Bottlenose Dolphin Bottlenose dolphins travel depending on a lot of variables Female- Travel in largish pods Male- Travel in 2-3 dolphin pods Juveniles-Pods vary drastically in size Dolphins are some of the most intelligent species other than humans, being able to recognize reflections, sounds, and other senses
