LADHH Strategic Plan for the MFRPS

Steps to Building the Strategic Plan 1.Identify the Gaps and needs that exist in your state for each Standard (self assessment - Worksheet 9) 2.Summarize this information into a Word document under each Standard 3.Complete Worksheet 9 Use the summarized Word document to build your Program’s Strategic Plan 4.Identify the year each objective will be completed, this takes time, do in table format in Word 5.Summarize the objectives in Word under the year it will be completed 6.Create a Strategic Plan summary table, for each year

1. Identify the Gaps and needs that exist in your state for each Standard Standard One: Catalogs state legal authority and regulatory provisions to conduct inspections …… Standard Two: Ensures state’s training so that inspectors can adequately conduct work assignments ….. Standard Three: Establishes a well defined and effective program to provide the foundation for inspection work ….. Standard Four: Enables states to monitor the effectiveness of the inspection program and identify best practices …. Standard Five: Documents program processes for foodborne illness and rapid response activities …. Standard Six: Guarantees state authority to take enforcement actions using sound compliance strategy and procedures …. Standard Seven: Encourages outreach to industry and community stakeholders impacted by state regulatory program …. Standard Eight: Assists state in determining resources needed to support a manufactured food regulatory program …. Standard Nine: Provides state with a process to assess and demonstrate conformance with standards … Standard Ten: References regulatory laboratory services and support needed to accomplish program goals

2. Summarize in Word under each Std

3. Complete Worksheet 9

4. Organize the Information in order of the Std:

4. Organize the Information by year

5. Summarize in Word the year it will be accomplished:

6. Strategic Plan (put it together)

When and how do you accomplish all of this??? One way is at the office

When and how do you accomplish all of this??? Another way is to do it after work at home with a glass of wine

ANY QUESTIONS? One final recommendation – if you run into a stumbling block ask your fellow states for help or to see what their Strategic Plan looks like, doing this may be your starting point to get you on the right track!!
