Analyzing Academic Argument Audience –Who is the audience? –What are the style features that help you evaluate the genre? –What are the audience expectations within an academic discourse community? –What elements tell you the author is attempting to write for an academic audience? Argument –What is the argument? –What type of argument is it? Theme –How does this paper connect with the theme of sustainability? –Do you sense a debate about the topic?
