WHAT IF’S: --What if I don’t have a pen or pencil? Borrow a pen or pencil from someone in your group. If no one is willing to let you borrow, then ask the teacher. This will affect your work habit grade. --What if I don’t have my agenda/planner? You may not return to your locker or previous teacher to retrieve it. You may write your homework on blank paper and transfer the information to your planner later.

--What if I forget my binder? If you forget your binder, you may turn in any due assignments later that day. You can get the assignment from your locker at the next locker break. You will have to borrow for class any items you may need. --What if I forget something from my locker? There is no going back to your locker. Locker breaks are issued for you to get all of your materials.

--What if I don’t have any notebook paper? You may ask to borrow some from your group OR you may write on recycled paper provided by the teacher. Remember, NOT being prepared for class will negatively impact your work habit grade. --What if I don’t feel well during class? You may ask to go get water, go to the restroom, or get a nurse’s pass. Remember, if you leave class, even for an emergency, you are still responsible for any missed material. Your parent is notified when you have frequent trips to the nurse without a parent note (due to an on-going medical condition). If you have a medical condition that requires you to go to the restroom or visit the nurse, please have your parent inform me.

-- What if I am checked out early from school and have to miss class? You may come by the classroom and ask if there is any homework or assignments. You may go to my teacher website on the school’s home page to see what the homework is for that evening. Call a friend who is in your class.

--What if I am absent from school? You may check my teacher web site for homework information. You may call a friend and ask what you missed. You may get your make-up work when you return to school (wait by the podium and look in the makeup notebook. I will give you any handouts from the notebook and explain any special instructions to you). Please allow 24 hour notice if you need to request assignments. If you are only absent 1-2 days, then you should wait until you return to school to get your make-up work.

--What is the best way for my parent or myself to communicate with the teacher outside of class? The best way is to utilize because I do not have a phone in the classroom, but I do have a computer. Please understand that s will not always be responded to immediately as I am usually in class with students. s will be returned within 24 hours, most likely that same day during my planning period.

--What if I am having difficulty in class and need help? I am available for tutoring during the mornings at 7:45 a.m. The only afternoon I can tutor is on Wednesday from 3:45-4:30. PLEASE GIVE ME ADVANCE NOTICE IF YOU PLAN ON COMING IN EARLY OR STAYING AFTER SCHOOL FOR EXTRA HELP. --What if I don’t understand my grade on a test, quiz, or other assignment? You may ask the teacher about your grade after class. You may NOT discuss your grade in front of the whole class.

--What if I would like to know my overall grade in class? Please use Parent Portal to view current grades from home. Grade averages will not be given out during class. This takes up valuable class time. Progress reports will go home at the 4 ½ week point with report cards going home every 9 weeks. There will be NO extra credit assignments given. You may, however, receive bonus points on a quiz or test.

--What if I get a low grade on my progress report or report card? If you earn a grade below an 80 on your 9 week report card, you will go on academic probation. This is a program policy. That means you have until the end of the next 9 week grading period to raise your average. If you fail to raise your average to an 80 or higher the following nine weeks, then you will be removed from the advanced content class at the end of the semester and placed in a regular education classroom. NOTE: You may also go on probation at the end of the 4 th nine weeks.

OFF-LIMIT AREAS OF CLASSROOM: *SHOWER AREA *BEHIND TEACHER’S DESK *INSIDE ANY CABINETS OR DRAWERS *ONLY USE SINK WITH PERMISSION

Where to turn in work to be graded: Turn in papers to be graded in the “answer sheets” basket on the counter. Turn in copies of tests/quizzes that you cannot write on by placing them in the “handouts” basket on the counter.

Student supplies You will find markers, rulers, and scissors in the white crates next to the closets. Recycled paper is located in the tray next to the white crates. This paper should only be used for emergencies.

Student supplies continued…. An electric pencil sharpener is behind the teacher’s desk. This is only used by the teacher to sharpen students’ pencils!! It is recommended that you bring your own personal sharpener with cover. A student stapler is on the counter for you to use. Please be gentle with it! It is located next to the “turn in” trays.
