Lakes of Africa Lake Tanganyika – Very long and narrow. Formed by the Rift Valley. Teeming with color plant and animal life.

Lakes of Africa Lake Victoria – The beginning of the Nile River. Many game reserves around lake. Named after Queen Victoria in the 1800’s.

Lakes of Africa Lake Chad – Very Shallow and rapidly disappearing. No major rivers into lake. Location is extremely hot and causing massive evaporation.

Lakes of South America Lake Titicaca – Located in the Andes Mountains between Bolivia and Peru. Ancient ruins near the lake. People living near lake still carry on old traditions in farming and textiles.

Llamas and “papas”

Lakes of South America Lake Maracaibo – Lake? Maybe. Gulf? Definitely. Used for oil and other industries. Maracaibo is very modern compared to Titicaca.
