2012 International Year for Sustainable Energy for All – In December 2010, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 65/151 proclaiming 2012 as the "International Year for Sustainable Energy for All“ and requested the Secretary-General, in consultation with relevant UN agencies and UN-Energy, to organize and coordinate activities to be undertaken during the Year. –United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for a “a global clean energy revolution – a revolution that makes energy available and affordable for all”, adding that this is essential for minimising climate risks, reducing poverty and improving global health, empowering women and meeting the Millennium Development Goals, for global economic growth, peace and security, and the health of the planet ( UN SG High Level Initiative on Sustainable Energy for All ).

Proposed Exhibition “The Energy R[E]volution” Salle du Pas Perdu, Palais des Nations, Geneva, 27 February to 16 March 2012 (1/2) – The energy sector is at the nexus of economic and environmental sustainability. – The world is changing rapidly in terms of environmental considerations, technological progress, and globalization. And the pace of change is accelerating. – In 20 years, energy consumption is projected to rise by 40 per cent – mostly in developing countries where 1.5 billion people still lack access to electricity, and where 3 billion people rely on traditional biomass fuels for cooking, heating, and other basic household needs.

Proposed Exhibition “The Energy R[E]volution”, Salle du Pas Perdu, Palais des Nations, Geneva, 27 February to 16 March 2012 (2/2) The exhibition will accompany all guests in a step by step path towards securing affordable and sustainable energy through three main phases of the energy contribution to the human being evolution: from the discovery of the fire, to the industrial and information revolution, Towards the energy revolution. Each visitor will be able to imagine tomorrow’s world going through a sustainable development where energy access is for all.
