Risk Assessment

What is it? Careful assessment of what might cause harm to people Consideration of precautions (are they adequate?) Significance of hazard Whether the risk is minimized through precautions

Steps to determining risk Identify hazards Determine who might be harmed and how Evaluate risks and current precautions Record findings (report) Review, revise, and publish findings

The Law Often there are legal and financial ramifications if proper risk assessment follow up hasn’t been carried out This can hurt the community, individuals, and the business

Questions to Ask Can the risk be eliminated? Can it be minimized? What is the cost of either of the options? What is the cost of failure of the options?
