Selecting a college One of the best things you can do is: Visit a College!

College Admissions Colleges look primarily at: GPA & Class rank Entrance Exams Then they consider: H.S. course load, community service, extracurricular involvement, projects, letters of recommendation

College Admissions Testing School Code (ACT) Tests reading, English, math, science Writing is optional (depending on university) No penalty for guessing. Answer every question! Perfect score: 36 (SAT) Tests critical reading, math, and writing Some colleges only look at verbal, math Penalizes for guessing. Don’t answer unless you know! Perfect score: 2400 ( ) 99% of colleges will accept either/or.

Filled out in spring of senior year. Estimates your family’s ability to contribute to your education. (EFC) Lets you know if you are eligible for federal grants, loans, or work study. Results are sent to the college to determine if you qualify for additional money.

What can I do today? Make a resume Volunteer Get involved in your school Study, study, study Start thinking about where you are going and what you want to do with your life Sign up to take your ACT or SAT Look at and analyze your ASVAB results for ideas about your interests, strengths, and weaknesses If it is to be, it’s up to me!

Pass/Fail  Juniors and Seniors only  Course not one of the 24 required credits  Up to 8 semesters (elective courses only)  Grades from these courses are excluded from GPA and rank calculation  Numeric grades are reported on progress reports and report cards for eligibility purposes.  Conference with your Counselor before deciding if Pass/Fail is right for you  Follow application requirements and deadlines Pass/Fail is advantageous for only a small percentage of students
