Noticeboards There are various noticeboards around the School dedicated to specific purposes. Check noticeboards regularly. Student Pigeonholes All postgraduate students are provided with pigeonholes for incoming mail. You should check your pigeonhole regularly for any messages. Staff Pigeonholes You can contact a member of staff by leaving a message in his/her pigeonhole.

School of Materials You MUST also update your own electronic student record. Student Records The School keeps a file for each student. If your local or home address changes please inform the Postgraduate Administrator. Failure to do so means that you do not receive important communications from the university.

School of Materials You are expected to attend all timetabled lectures, laboratory classes and tutorials, etc. Attendance If any problems arise which affect your progress, (illness, family bereavement, etc.), inform your supervisor. You may apply for an interruption of studies. Poor attendance may lead to the exclusion of students from examinations and communication of this information to any funding source. If you cannot attend because of illness, doctor’s appointment, interview, etc, you must inform the appropriate School Administrative Office.

School of Materials Regulations Plagiarism Theft or expropriation of someone else’s work without proper acknowledgement, presenting the material as if it were one’s own. Plagiarism is a serious academic offence and the consequences are severe.

Students wishing to make external calls connected with their work should use the telephones of their supervisors.
