Culture of welfare benefit dependency Work is good for you Lack of personal responsibility The cost is getting out of control… Benefits spending increased 45% in decade to 2009/10 Currently around £207,000,000,000 per annum Income tax only yields £155,000,000,000 per annum! £1.60 spent on social security for every £1.00 on health Welfare reform cuts concentrated on working age people But 65% of all benefit spending is on those over working age 47% of total social security spend goes on older people 2
