10 Nutrition Tips for College Students

Tip 1: Eating a Healthy Breakfast Importance of eating breakfast “Studies show that skipping breakfast detracts from scholastic achievement.” (Clarke University) College students are always on the go Incorporate quick, healthy options for breakfast

Tip 2: Keep Healthy Snacks Options Have quick & easy snacks on hand. Quick & healthy options: Fresh or dried fruit Rice cakes Whole wheat crackers Unbuttered popcorn Trail mix contain nuts, oats, raisins, etc. Yogurt Vegetables-carrot or celery sticks

Tip 3: Eating out? Choose Wisely! As college students it’s inevitable were going to be eating out. Making wise decisions. VS.

Tip 4: Eat Foods Rich in Calcium Calcium is an important part of our diet. Build up calcium. Prevention of osteoporosis.

Tip 5: Want to Lose Weight? Be Sensible About it! There is no quick fix. Starvation or fad diets promise unrealistic results. There is only one safe and effective way to losing weight. Be patient. Keep pushing forward.

Tip 6: Limit Your Sugar Intake Sugar provides many calories in our diet. Too much sugar can be a bad thing for our body. Use sugar sparingly Choose alternatives.

Tip 7: Plan Ahead As college students we are always on the go. Look at the week ahead. Have an idea of when you’ll have time to eat. Ready to-go meals.

Tip 8: Limit Alcohol Intake Alcohol provides calories, but no nutritional value Can cause health problems Daily recommendations

Tip 9: Drink Enough Water Keeping your body hydrated 8 or more glasses of water a day Keep a bottle of water in easy access

Tip 10: Enjoy What you Eat Food does a lot more than nourish our bodies Enjoy what you eat Find what works for you Everything is fine in moderation
