Releasing God’s tremendous power of forgiveness in your life

Jesus talked a lot about forgiveness and it’s importance in our life. LUK 17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.3

Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. 5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.  Offense- Greek word skandalon - a stick for bait (of a trap), generally a snare

2TI 2:24 And the Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged,25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

In the Lord’s prayer Jesus said: MAT 6:12 'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.]' 14 "For if you forgive men for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.15 "But if you do not forgive men, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

MAT 18:21 Then Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?"22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

You need to forgive, because. Jesus made it possible by forgiving you. EPH 4:31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.32 And be kind to one another, tender- hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.  Jesus forgave you. You can choose to forgive others.

Justice is in not in your hands but God’s. ROM 12:19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.  Leave justice in God’s eternal hands and plans.  Forgiveness and trust are not the same thing.

If you refuse to forgive you become your own Jailer. And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him.  With unforgiveness you hurt yourself more and damage every other relationship in your life.

Main point: Forgiveness is God’s method to release you from the wounds of the past and present.

Dear God, I confess my sins of unforgiveness. I have held onto resentment, bitterness, hatred and vengeance.... I have offended You and broken Your heart. Please forgive me for not forgiving. Before God, I have completely forgiven _______________of every wound.
