What the Heavens Tell Us About God

Science & faith are not mutually exclusive but rather complimentary

Psalm 19 (page 383)

Isaiah 40:22 Isaiah 40:22 (page 503) “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.”

Job 26:7 (page 366) ”He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; He suspends the earth over nothing.”

Genesis 1:14 (page 1) “ And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years...’”

Isaiah 40:26 (page 504) “Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”

Job 38:4-7 (page 373) "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?”

Romans 1:20 (page781) “For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”

Jeremiah 31:35-36 (page 552) This is what the LORD says, He who appoints the sun to shine by day, Who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—the LORD Almighty is His name: "Only if these decrees vanish from My sight,“ declares the LORD, "will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before Me."

1. God doesn’t grade on a curve And the heavens proclaim “And the heavens proclaim His righteousness, for God Himself is judge.” —Psalm 50:6

2. No one is perfect like God “… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” —Romans 3:23

3. The penalty for sin against an eternal God = eternal death “ For the wages of sin is death…” —Romans 6:23a

4. Jesus Christ (the sinless, eternal Son of God) died to pay for our sin “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” —Romans 6:23 “if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” —Romans 10:9
