objectives TEKS 115.2 Health Education, Kindergarten. (a) Introduction (2) Kindergarten students are taught basic factors that contribute to health literacy. Students learn about their bodies and the behaviors necessary to protect them and keep them healthy. Students also understand how to seek help from parents and other trusted adults. (b) knowledge and skills 1) Health behaviors. The student recognizes that personal health decisions and behaviors affect health throughout life. The students is expected to: (A) identify and practice personal health habits that help individuals stay healthy such as a proper amount of sleep and clean hands; (B) identify types of foods that help the body grow such as healthy breakfast foods and snacks. Activities To Implement Nutrition Read Books pertaining Good Nutrition Get two pieces of Large construction paper have them posted on the chalk board for the whole class to see. Then have the class circle around and ask them what foods they think are good for them, and what foods they think are unhealthy for them. Make a huge cut out of the food pyramid and put it on the wall. Then make cut outs of different foods. Have the students place the foods onto the pyramid under the category they believe it should go. You can have a discussion time about healthy and non healthy food. Go over the human body and why we need healthy food, make sure it is basic so they can understand.
