Current Status of the Country Very prosperous since 2005 Exporter of: sugar, coffee, tobacco A lot of tourism U.S.A. is ¾ of D.R.’s consumer

Economy The economic status of the Dominican Republic is very prospering. The economy is blooming with the following aspects taken in account for: »G.D.P. Real Growth Rate: 8.5% »G.D.P. per capita: $6,600 »G.D.P. purchasing power parity With such aspects that look very well stable in the figures shown, shows how the economy is very well flourishing. But as this year progresses, the economy is slowly receding in direct correlation to the U.S. economy. Nonetheless, the economy is developing and very well on its way to be one of the most prominent.

Education (Level Of Literacy) The education system in the Dominican Republic is similarly modeled after the U.S. system. The school basically consists of 3 years in elementary school, 3 years in middle school, and then, if wanting to pursue studies, chose how many years that would take. The school life expectancy of the Dominican Republic is of approximately 12 years: »male: 12 years »female: 13 years »total: 12 years (approximation) The level of literacy in the Dominican Republic is 87%: »male: 86.8% »female: 87.2% »total population: 87% »(age 15 and over can read and write )

Age and Population Profile In the Dominican Republic, the population has been steadily increasing, about 150,000 a year. Recent consensus (July 2008) D.R. current population has hit 9,507,133 and counting. A slight percentile increase is occurring as the population continues to grow (about 1.5 %). As this growth occurs, about 7 per 1000 people die, while 23 out of every 1000 are born. In the Dominican Republic, males outnumber females by a trivial amount (about 1.03 males for every 1 female).

Population Profile of Dominican Republic (2005)

Population Profile of Dominican Republic (2010)

10 year plan for the Dominican Republic The plan will primarily consist of the following aspects and the elaboration upon them: Establish a participatory and representative democratic government that will ultimately insure the welfare of the people and will for sure, execute the following aspects that need improvement on: Reduce the amount of poverty-ridden families by opening up more opportunities to jobs that can enable these families to feed themselves. This can allow for the employment to reduce from 15.6% it is today. Once this action is accomplished, we can have a stable population. Make health facilities more accessible to the people. This will ultimately allow for less famine and a more flourishing population profile. If a plan is taken upon along the lines of the aspects mentioned above, we can conclusively, obtain a nation with a developing economy that can reach its potential and make a stand in the vast economy of the world.
