Reintegration Center The Netherlands

What we believe We believe that the guidance of Dutch detainees in their search for a paid job should be improved. Certain conditions, such as accommodation, a healthy financial situation and psychological /medical care, are of great importance therewith. We provide for such conditions in close collaboration with the staff of prisons and the reintegration centre. This presentation During this presentation we will explain the purpose of having a reintegration centre. We also would like to know to what extent the participants currently have set up a reintegration process.

What is the problem In/outflow detention: 35,093 persons in 2012 Complex target group Detainees do not have internet access Many detainees are unable to organize their own affairs properly Citizens - and therefore also prisoners - can only provide information regarding their registration for work and income digitally High rate of recidivism (71% within 6 years )

Background 2012 Age 18+ Total persons ,093 Total unique persons30,448 Where 27% < 2 weeks Where 50% < 1 month Where 65% < 2 months Where 78% < 4 months Where 84% < 6 months

Start reintegration in the penitentiary There should be social service employees in all penitentiary institutions for screening purposes and in order to keep contact with municipalities and the main partners. Within two working days, the penitentiary institution should notify the municipality that their citizen is in detention. Social service employees should screen the detainee on five habitats within 10 days:  Medical and psychological care  Financial problems  Accommodation  Work and income  Identification

Cooperation with municipalities Penitentiary institutions work closely together with the respective municipality Many problems cannot be organized by the municipality Detainees should organize themselves: Search for accommodation Subscribing for accommodation Register for work and income Search for jobs Filling out forms Clarifying their financial situation (overview of debts)

R eintegration centre for detainees in the penitentiary institution Counselling by volunteers and trainees What to do: Everything to improve reintegration Digital/internet Telephone Fill out forms And more
