Recycling Collections and Re-use Projects Ideas for Not-for-Profit Groups, Charities and Parish Councils

Recycling Credits The recycling credit scheme was introduced through the Environmental Protection Act (1990) They are paid as a disposal cost equivalent to encourage recycling and reuse Although it is optional Leicestershire County Council began to pay Recycling Credits to third parties in the early 1990’s.

Re-use Credits 2006 Government issued new guidance on Re-use Credits LCC pays credits to Furniture Re-Use organisations which helps them to operate and this contributes towards the achievement of the Leicestershire Waste Strategy Payments under these schemes provide benefits to the community through employment, training & volunteering, often for socially excluded people

Recycling & Re-use Setting up a Recycling Scheme Glass / Paper / Plastics / Cans / Textiles etc List of Registered Merchants available Duty of Care – Waste Carriers License £41.85 per tonne of recycled material e.g. Collect 20 tonnes of glass bottles and claim over £800 in Recycling Credits
