Activities in Papers Peer-pre-reivew by ICDD members for submitting to Powder Diffraction: During the 7 th National Conference on Diffraction Analysis, According to Dr. T.Huang’ suggestion, ICDD regional committee recommended 13 papers among 100 or so oral talks and poster papers for potential publication in Powder Diffraction. 4 ICDD members made peer reviews, corrections and discussions with the corresponding authors.

Activities in 2004 (Cont.) 2. Joint meeting by ICDD regional committee, commission on powder diffraction(CSC) and commission on x-ray diffraction(CSP) in Beijing April ) discussions on how to organize the powder diffraction sessions of the 3 rd National Congress of Chinese Society of crystallography that would be held in Chengdu, Sept 17-23; (Other sessions are on crystal growth, small molecules and Macromolecules) 2) conferring credentials to newly elected members for two commissions.

Activities in 2004 (Cont.) 3. Jointly organized the powder diffraction sessions, 3 rd National Congress of CSC by ICDD regional committee, commission on powder diffraction(CSC) and commission on x-ray diffraction(CSP) in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Sept 17-23, ) Prof. Z.H. Mai(ICDD member) and X.L.Chen (ICDD member) were elected as vice presidents of Chinese Society of Crystallography; 2) about 300 persons attended the Congress and X.L.Chen gave a plenary talk. about 100 persons attend the powder diffraction sessions. 40 oral talks were presented.

Future Activities ICDD regional committee, commission on powder diffraction(CSC) and commission on x-ray diffraction(CSP) will jointly hold a meeting in August 2005 in Xinjiang, discussing - the 8 th National Conference on Diffraction Analysis that is due in Decisions will be made on the place, time, the local organizers, potential invited speakers; the budget and the etc participants are expected to attend the conference. - the possibility to organize the short time summer school or workshop on structural analysis and applications of ICDD-PDF.
