 Dr. Gardner is a professor of Education and co- director of Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  Gardner is best known in educational circles for his theory of multiple intelligences, a critique of the notion that there exists but a single human intelligence that can be assessed by standard psychometric instruments.

 "The standard view of intelligence is that intelligence is something you are born with; you only have a certain amount of it; you cannot do much about how much of that intelligence you have; and tests exist that tell you how smart you are."

“intelligence is the ability to solve the problems, or to create products, that are valued within one or more cultural settings.”

ability to use words and language Ability to think conceptually and abstractly, and have capacity to differentiate logical or numerical pattern ability to produce and appreciate rhythm, pitch and timber capacity to detect and respond appropriately to the moods, motivations and desires of others capacity about being self – aware and in tune with inner feelings, values, beliefs and thinking process think in images and pictures and visualize phenomena accurately and abstractly Capacity to exhibit the proclivity to pose (and ponder) questions about life, death, and ultimate realities ability to identify and classify patterns in nature the ability to control one's body movements and to handle objects skillfully

 Let’s see an example of MI application in class.

Pollution & Recycle

Think & Express Yourself Form groups of 2-3 people What do you think about spring fest? Consider the polution that we produce in the festival. Write your ideas Express yourself!

Look around! Examine the map of the METU and Explain What kind of species do exist in METU? How are they affected from the pollution in the fest?

METU MAP

How much waste do I produce? Fill the table to see the amount of the waste you produce in a week Fact: Recycling 1 tonne of paper waste will save 8 trees Calculate an aproximate number of trees that we are going to save in a year if all of the METU (~25000 people)

Let’s draw Preapare a poster that shows the importance of recycling and polution in METU

Look posters together What do you think about each others posters. Express your ideas and give feedback

Design/produce Let’s design a recycle bin To gain attention on polution To increase the recycling To emphasize the value of waste

Check yourself What you have learned today? Describe what you have learned in words, graph, picture and etc.

Think deeply Why people do not care polution although they know the results?

Tune up! Let’s prepare a litle song to express the importance of recycling.

Thanks for your participation!
