Women in Medicine and Science Symposium The Women in Medicine and Science Symposium will highlight the collaborations and achievements of women faculty and trainees at Brigham and Women’s Healthcare. The program will focus on the collaborations of women faculty and trainees across different disciplines including basic, clinical innovation and translational research projects with the goal of building community. Authorship Issues Seminar Speaker: Barbara Bierer, MD This dynamic and interactive discussion series is case-based, and provides a forum for researchers to examine the complicated and challenging issues which can arise in professional life. The seminar will present general authorship principles, policies and guidelines. The case discussion will focus on authorship eligibility, order, unclear situations, and managing authorship disputes. Participants will also receive information about specific policies, where to get guidance and additional resources. MRA Request For Proposals The Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) is soliciting translational research grant applications from scientists and clinicians around the world. The RFP calls for ideas that could lead to high impact near-term clinical application in melanoma detection, prevention, diagnosis, staging, or treatment. MRA will accept proposals for Established Investigator Awards, Pilot Awards, Young Investigator Awards, Academic-Industry Partnership Awards (Established Investigator and Teams), and Special Opportunity Awards. Several special opportunities are being made possible in collaboration with Amgen, Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), and the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC). In addition, we are pleased to announce a Young Investigator award in Dermatology. During this cycle, MRA plans to award at least $7 million to new projects. November 11, 2014: Young Investigator Award (including Dermatology Young Investigators), Established Investigator Award (including BMS-MRA Established Investigators), and Pilot Award (including SITC-MRA Pilot Award) proposals are due. November 21, 2014: All Academic-Industry Partnership Award (for Established Investigators and Teams) and BMS-MRA Team Science Award proposals are due.
