Taking the direction to the right to be positive, describe the motion of the disk in each case. For which case is (a) the acceleration positive? (b) the acceleration negative? What is your reaction time? Hold your index finger and thumb of your dominant hand about 25c apart, and then have your partner hold a ruler vertically in the space between your finger and thumb. Note the position of the ruler relative to your index finger. Let your partner release the ruler and you try to catch it without moving your hand. Your reaction time can be determined by d = ½ gt 2
