Octagon Stop Sign This is a octagon. Octagons are 8-sided shapes and have 4 sets of parallel sides. There is a rectangle in the octagon. A rectangle is a 4 sided shape with 2 sets of parallel sides. 1 set is always longer than the other. A stop sign is a sign that indicates that you should stop!

Trash Can Cylinder This is a cylinder. A cylinder is a 3-D shape that has 2 flat surfaces for the bottom and the top and has a round surface for the middle. A trash can is a can in which trash is thrown!

Perpendicular Cross This is a perpendicular, parallel, red, cross. It is also a First Aid sign. It is perpendicular because 2 lines cross at perfect right angles. It is parallel because if the sets of lines went on forever they would never touch. It is a First Aid sign because this is the symbol for First Aid!

Fancy Line Segment This is an example of a line segment. We called it fancy because it has leaves all over it! A line segment is a segment of a line that doesn't go on forever, but is straight like a line. This line segment is probably going to be used to hang things up, so it is a hang- up, fancy, line segment!

Parallel Stair Rails These stair rails are an example of parallel lines. Parallel lines are lines that could go on forever and never touch. These are also stair rails. Stair rails are used to steady people on the stairs!

Snowflake Circle This is a snowflake circle. We know it is a circle because it is round, flat, and has only 1 circular side. It also has lots of little circles inside of it. We thought these little circles looked like snowflakes so we called it a snowflake circle. Snowflakes are bits of snow that fall from the sky!

Fire Cone This is a cone. A cone has a base flat base, (this one is open ended) then gets smaller at one point. In the top, colored paper is inserted and it looks like fire. You can also see cones like this with ice cream in it. Ice cream is good!

Triple Shape This is a picture of a rectangular flag, a rectangular EXIT sign, and a T pole. The T pole has 2 open spaces on either side of it, that are parallel and perpendicular lines. We know that the T pole has a parallel set of lines because if the lines went on forever they would never touch. We know that the lines are perpendicular because they make perfect right angles. We called it a triple shape because it’s 3 in 1!

Square Fire Alarm This is a square. A square is a 2- D box with 4 equal sides. There is a rectangle in the middle of this, but unlike regular rectangles, it is puffed out. A rectangle has 4 sides, 2 that are longer than the other 2, 2 sets of parallel sides, and 4 right angles (in this case they are sort of rounded off). This is also a fire alarm. A fire alarm is used to signal people inside a building to get out because there is a fire!

The End!!! THE END!!!!!
