Cormac Neeson Space Engineering and Technology 21th GIST GERB4 Project Status

Cormac Neeson Space Engineering and Technology 21th GIST GERB Project Status Battery issues Status of GERB1 and 3

Cormac Neeson Space Engineering and Technology 21th GIST GERB Project Status Battery issue Back up battery on GERB 1 found to be flat at Alcatel. Battery design found to be marginal. Agreed that battery will be replaced on GERB 1,3&4

Cormac Neeson Space Engineering and Technology 21th GIST GERB Project Status Battery replacement Proposals have been agreed with ESA that enable safe switch down without battery power. New emergency power source is the nominal survival heater supply Relatively simple modifications will be incorporated and the units (1&3) re- qualified.

Cormac Neeson Space Engineering and Technology 21th GIST GERB1 Project Status Status of GERB1 –Battery replacement installed –Environmental re-testing completed –Unit due for delivery back to Alcatel end March 04

Cormac Neeson Space Engineering and Technology 21th GIST GERB3 Project Status Status of GERB3 –Delivered to Alcatel in June –Integrated onto MSG 3 –Completed thermal vacuum tests. –Will be returned for battery modifications and calibration check Spring ‘04.
