Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 1 ERTMS PILOT PROJECT Paris - Frankfurt corridor & ICE3 and POS trainsets DB/RFF/SNCF common project F1C H52 0B

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 2 Presentation to the ERTMS Working Group on 03 December 03

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 3 Aims of the Paris - Frankfurt Corridor Common Project RFF/SNCF and DB AG Implement ETCS on an international corridor which is part of European priorities (van Miert report). Provide operational feed-back for other European corridors. Demonstrate that ETCS is able to achieve same performances as high demanding signalling systems (TVM and LZB). Open the ETCS market with multi-source suppliers. Provide a Member State level co-operation frame for common safety approval of ETCS.

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 4 Paris - Frankfurt Corridor Reference Scenario 2007

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 5 Line Data: Paris - Vaires, 22 km, KVB Vaires - Baudrecourt, 300 km, TVM + ETCS Level 2 Baudrecourt - Stiring Wendel, 50 km, KVB Stiring Wendel - Saarbrücken, 5 km, PZB Saarbrücken - Ludwigshafen, 128 km, LZB + PZB Ludwigshafen - Mannheim, 5 km, PZB Mannheim - Frankfurt, 88 km, LZB + PZB Taking into Operation in 2007 for max. Speed up to 320 km/h in France and up to 200 km/h in Germany. Operation: Operation in 2007 with new rolling stock for international services with 5 ICE 3 M and 15 TGV POS, all trains equipped with TVM, KVB, LZB and PZB Paris - Frankfurt Corridor Reference Scenario 2007

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 6 Idea of a Common Project: Overall Target: Complet ETCS-equipped Line from Paris to Frankfurt First step: HSL Vaires - Baudrecourt equipped with TVM and ETCS Level 2 HSL Saarbrücken - Ludwigshafen equipped with ETCS Level 2 and PZB (no LZB) TGV POS and ICE 3 M equipped with ETCS Level 2 and all national systems Following steps should be part of the European Migration Plan. ETCS mixed with national systems can be put in practical operation on an international High-Speed-Corridor. Experience gained is essential for future steps of the migration of ETCS on High-Speed-Lines. Paris - Frankfurt Corridor Common Project RFF/SNCF and DB AG

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 7 Paris - Frankfurt Corridor Common Project RFF/SNCF and DB AG First step

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 8 Paris - Frankfurt corridor: Risk analysis Definition of Operating rules Stabilisation of European specifications Cost effective migration Cross acceptance

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 9 Risk on Operating rules Definition of operating rules on going in EEIG framework. Corridor railways must ensure that ERTMS operating rules match correctly the needs (double equipment track side).

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 10 Risk on European specifications Corridor specifications to be frozen before March 2004 based on European state of the art (version 2.2.2) and Change Requests already agreed between UNISIG, EEIG & Corridor railways. Harmonisation with NL, B, L projects to be achieved.

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 11 Risk on cost effective migration Onboard: “plug and play” solution not available in due time. Pragmatic configuration to be set up for TGV & ICE. Onboard and Track side: not yet available European interface specifications conduced to specific solutions (Onboard/TIU, RBC/IXL)

Presentation to Working Group ERTMS on DB SNCF RFF 12 Risk on cross acceptance First case of international corridor putting in service between F and D. Co-operation, including State level, must guaranty that verifications are done once only.
