 White Castle opens it’s first restaurant in 1921 o  Goal to change the perception of burgers to Americans. Many believed it was just scraps  In 1948 the McDonald brothers open their first restaurant o  The assembly line method of making food begins  Drive- throughs begin popping up around the country in 1947  The idea exploded in the fast paced New York City o  Slogan was “Less work for your mother.”

What that food looks like before it hits the plate may shock you Click the picture to find out!

 The FDA allows chain restaurants to use “pink slime” also called lean finely textured beef o This meat is made of the cheapest cuts of meat o It accounts for 70% of all beef consumed in the country o Most of it is connective tissue

According to Harvard 25% of people underestimate their fast food intake by at least 500 calories. A big Mac alone has 550 calories add medium fries and you’re up another 350 calories. A sweet Tea (32 oz) has 54 grams of sugar Mighty Wings (5 pc) has 1450 grams of sodium

How long would it take you to burn off these common fast food items? Medium slice of pizza- 22 min of biking McDonalds Kids meal- Four hours and thirty minutes of playing Frisbee

88% of ads on major children’s networks are for fast food. The Golden Arches of McDonalds are more recognized than the Christian Cross Six billion fast food ad appeared on Facebook alone  Over half were Dunkin Donuts

 #1 has 27 million followers  #2 has 25 million followers  Taco #3 has 20 million followers

When ordering a salad out avoid the creamy dressings, they pack about 200 to 300 calories

When ordering your meals check out what other side options you have Some chain restaurants offer coleslaw or even apples

When eating out many choose diet soda alternatives These drinks are still packed with sugar and calories The sweeteners have even been thought to possibly cause cancer!
