THRIP APPLICATIONS Industry partner(s) and HEI or SETI researchers agree on project. HEI or SETI researcher submits application to THRIP with industry endorsement. Applicant cannot be the student on the project. Industry involvement: endorsing application and commenting on progress online. Peer-review and recommendation for funding. Level of funding is dependent on industry partner(s) and number of students participating.

THRIP APPLICATIONS cont. Online Student nomination process and sign Condition of Grant before Allocation letter will be sent. Proof of payment from industry required for release of funds by the NRF. THRIP funds may not be carried over to the next financial year. Maximum awarded amount R8 million per grantholder per year.

THRIP supports technology transfer by bringing together academics and industry.

TIPTOP Incentive mechanism to encourage industry employees to further their studies while continuing their employment. Encourages academia to obtain industry experience while still being involved in their research activities. The transfer of knowledge is possible through the physical relocation of participants between the organisations involved in the projects.
