Mrs. Hobson’s 1st Grade Welcome, parents!

All About Me  My background  I grew up in Belleville, KS  I attended Kansas State University  In May 2009 I earned my master’s degree in education from Baker University  I have been married four years. We have a 10 month old daughter.  My experience  This is my fifth year at Rising Star  I have taught first grade each year here

My Goals  To give your child the academic and social skills they need to progress to second grade.  To provide a supportive and safe classroom environment.  To individualize and differentiate instruction and learning.

Tardiness  School starts at 8:10.  If you aren’t in the classroom by the time the bell rings, you will be sent back to the office to check in.  We start our day immediately so please try to be at school on time!

Spelling  Everyday Spelling program  Tests are on Fridays  Send home new list on Mondays with homework; practice test on homework  Enrichment- Alternate list

Homework  Homework is sent home on Mondays for the week and is due back that Friday.  Complete spelling pretest by Thursday  For every 10 minutes of reading color in a star (silent or aloud). Parents please initial each star to show your child did the reading.  Have all parts of homework stapled or paper-clipped together when handed in.  Homework will start the week of Sept. 13 th.

Makeup Work  2 days for every 1 day they are absent
