Organising the learning Mornings usually English & Maths focused, including guided reading / spellings Afternoons usually foundation subject, Science or Computing (ICT) Learning is organised around themes, which bring together a range of subjects under one umbrella.

Enrichment Opportunities To bring the curriculum to life and engage the children we are planning: A trip to St Alban’s Abbey A trip to Celtic Harmony Geography field trip to Cuffley Camp

Pitch and expectations By the end of the year: Most children will be able to quickly recall their 3, 4 and 8 times tables and the corresponding division facts. In spelling the focus will be on common words e.g. which, when, does, goes as well as developing their sentence structure. In reading, children will develop their inference and deduction skills.

Learning logs Homework given out on Thursday to be returned on Tuesday. Given three task options to chose from, but only need to complete one. Children should spend about 40 minutes on their homework.

P.E kits Black shorts Plain white t-shirt Plimsolls or trainers Track suit bottoms for colder days (black, grey or navy blue). Earrings!

Attendance and punctuality If arrival after 8:50, please take your child to the Office to be signed in. Attendance is vital for every child’s learning and development. Home time – 3:15. If you are running late please phone the Office to let us know.

Behaviour – any problems The Meryfield rules: Follow instructions straight away. Show good manners at all times.
