What is a Built-Up Roof?

The board placed on edge at the ridge of the roof into which the upper ends of the rafters are fastened

What is the Ridge Board?

The board or sheet material fastened to the roof rafters on which the shingles or other roof material is placed

What is Roof Sheathing?

The vertical framing member of a wall

What is a stud?

The structural covering, usually wood boards or plywood, used over studs or rafters of a structure

What is sheathing?

A roof structural member running from the wall plate to the ridge

A horizontal structural member that supports the floor or ceiling system

A small masonry unit made from clay and baked in a kiln

A type of insulation designed to be installed between framing members

Small wood pieces in wood framing used to anchor or support other major members

What is blocking?
