Outline of Presentation  Introduction.  Why school?  Criteria for choosing a major.  Factors for choosing a major.  The top selected majors.  Conclusion.  Bibliografy.

Introduction In this presentation we will observe some of the difficulties that young people often face in before choosing their major: 1. What is the most important factor for choosing? 2. How can we know that we made the right choise? 3. What influences us most of all? 4. Do we need a school to have a successful career? In here we will try and answer this subjects.

Why school? The first question is “Why school?” That is the big question that we all face. There are a lot of examples of people that never went to school for example: Tom Anderson, co-founder of MySpace. A high school dropout. If you have an idea for something that can work and doesn’t require school why not go for it? S. Daniel Abraham, billionaire founder of Slim-Fast. Did not attend college. In my personal opinion it depends on the persons own ambitions, and the risks that person is willing to take. Unfortunately there are no guaranties with life or with careers.

Criteria for choosing a major The most popular criteria's for choosing a major are: Popular subjects that have a high requirement with Popular subjects that have a high requirement with big companies. The amount of year required to study for the The amount of year required to study for thesubject. The persons own personal interests in that suject. The persons own personal interests in that suject. And many more that are personal for each person.

Factors for choosing a major There are a few major factors that influence people:  Parents effect, not always our parents know what’s better for us and sometimes we choose majors according to their desires instead of our own.  Money, was always a factor for major choices not always our interests match the major we pick because of the fear of not finding work.  Lack or misleading information, many times we pick a major that we thought was one thing and turns out to be something else because we do not have sufficient information or misleading information.  And many times people just go for the logical choice according to their situation at that time (their job, financial state etc.) Again for every person the factors that influence him are different and individual but all of the factors basically the same.

The top 10 college majors Today the most selected majors according to The Princeton Review are: 1. Business Administration and Management/Commerce. 2. Psychology 3. Nursing 4. Biology/Biological Sciences 5. Education 6. English Language and Literature 7. Economics 8. Communications Studies/Speech Communication and Rhetoric 9. Political Science and Government 10. Computer and Information Sciences.

Conclusion In conclusion we have seen that in the USA fo example the factors that most influence people in choosing their major is Money because there the most popular majors are Business Administration and Management/Commerce, Psychology and Nursing. In my opinion every person doesn’t really know is he/she have made the right choice in choosing a major and every choice we make leaves us with the questions “what if? Or Was this the right choice?” and for me with a kind of regret for not choosing something else. In the end we can only hope that things will workout for us and try to succeed in life.
