The Asante People Founded by the King Osei Tutu in the eighteenth century. Priest was Okomfo Anokye, who unified the Asante states through allegiance to the Golden Stool. ◦ Stool believed to have come from heaven. Alliances made with surrounding peoples lead to the formation of the Ashanti Union around 1700.
