Rapid Prototyping A Barking ICT Testbed Project
This project involves
What is Rapid Prototyping ? Rapid Prototyping is the name given to a process that produces 3d objects direct from a CAD model.
Why Use Rapid Prototyping ? Rapid Prototyping reduces the time it takes to produce a model of an object This allows designers and manufactures to respond quickly to market demands. Rapid prototyping reduces development costs.
Who Uses Rapid Prototyping ? Rapid prototyping is used to develop designs for a wide range of users including; Automotive Sport Medical
How does Rapid Prototyping work ? There are different types of machine, these include; Stereo Lithography, where a laser is used to solidify a liquid plastic. Laminated Object Manufacturing, where layers of paper or thin plastic are cut and glued together Fused Deposition Modelling, where a type of glue gun controlled by a computer builds an object in layers. Three Dimensional Printing, where an inkjet cartridge is used to glue together layers of power.

What’s Next Over the next few weeks you will be designing a product using ProDESKTOP. This product will be manufactured at CEME using a Z Corp 3d printer. Now use the internet to search for rapid prototyping and collect pictures of products.
