Creating a Topographical Map using Sketchup This powerpoint assumes that you have already downloaded Sketchup and the “contours” plug-in Mary Rogero Fall 2013 #43
Select “add location” Open Sketchup and…
Enter project address A dialogue box will pop up, then….
Zoom in or out to get the desired area. Then press “select region” to crop image to desired size
Click on corner pins and move in, out, up or down to frame your preferred view, then….. Press “grab”
Image will appear at an odd angle. Select “Camera, Standard Views, Top” to reorient map.
Turn on layers and zoom out
Select Plugins…..Contours Indicate spacing You will see the model “twitch”
To change the color of the contours, Select Window Styles Select Color sets and pick a Color palette
To understand the flow of water, Use the rectangle command, draw a rectangle larger than the model, then use the push pull tool to bring the rectangle up and down through the contours.
